MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals for 10 & under swimmers, and prelims/finals for 11-12 swimmers.  All events 400 meters or longer (including the 400 IM) will be swum as timed finals.  All relays will be swum as timed finals during the morning sessions.  For 11-12 prelims/finals events, the evening finals will consist of a B-Final and A-Final, swum in that order.

FACILITY: Blodgett Pool features an 8 lane, 50 meter competition course with Kiefer Advantage II lane lines, a fully automatic Daktronics Timing System with alphanumeric scoreboard, and touchpads at both ends of the course. There is a diving well area that will be available for warm-up and warm-down activities. The facility has seating for 1200 spectators.  The pool is located near the Harvard Football Stadium, at 65 North Harvard Street, Boston MA 02163.  Directions may be found below.

COURSE: Long course meters (50 meters).  50-meter events will start at the starting end of the course, and finish at the turn end of the course.  For 200-meter relays, the second and fourth swimmers may dive from the edge of the pool at the turn end.  There are no starting blocks at the turn end of the pool.  The starting end of the course has a depth of 7 feet.  The turn end of the course has a depth of 3 feet 9 inches.

ONLINE MEET COVERAGE: The meet will feature online heat sheets, results, live scoreboard and webcam at: http://www.swimindex.com/meets/2006/ne-12u/

OFFICIALS: Officials are requested to help with the pre-meet planning for this meet by stating their availability to help as soon as possible. Please provide the information requested on the Application to Officiate for this meet (above).  Host Team officials are reminded that they also need to submit an application.  All applications that are received by the meet entry deadline (July 11, 2006) will count towards the work requirements for the official’s team.  Applications to officiate that are received at least ten days prior to the meet, and declare a commitment to serve at most of the meet, will be given priority consideration in deck assignments.  Please do not submit an application within three days of the meet.  “Walk-on” officials are always welcome and will be assigned to positions that are not filled.

DIRECTIONS: From the Mass Pike, get off at the Cambridge/Allston exit. Take the Cambridge ramp. Just before crossing the bridge into Cambridge, turn left onto the Storrow Drive entrance ramp. Go straight through the next intersection and take the next exit, marked Harvard Square, Cambridge. At the light at the top of the ramp, turn left onto North Harvard Street. The pool is the first building on the right. The pool is bounded on the south by Harvard Stadium, on the east by North Harvard Street, and on the north by Storrow Drive. Swimmers should be dropped off at the pool gate on North Harvard Street.

PARKING: After dropping the swimmers at the gate on North Harvard St., proceed to the parking lot entrance, across the street, to the Harvard Business School parking lot. There will be a parking fee of $9 on Friday morning, and $5 at all other times (Thursday and Friday after 5:00pm, and all day Saturday and Sunday). It is a 5-minute walk to the pool. This will be in effect for all four days of the meet. Only cars with parking passes will be allowed to park around the stadium. All other vehicles will be towed. Street parking is limited, but allowed in available spaces. If these guidelines are not adhered to, we will be in jeopardy of losing the use of the Harvard pool for meets. Please do not park around the stadium.

ELIGIBILITY: This meet is open only to swimmers from the New England LSC.  All contestants must be 2006 USA Swimming registered athletes.  All swimmers must be registered before the entry is submitted.  Teams that enter unregistered swimmers will be subject to a fine of $100 per unregistered swimmer.  Teams entering the meet are required to check their entries with the online registration check tool on the New England Swimming web site.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. Disabled swimmer forms are available from the New England Swimming Office.
