ELIGIBILITY | All athletes must meet one of the requirements listed in the general information section. [ Download general information packet (Adobe PDF) ] | ||||||||||||
FORMAT | Junior/Scholastic/Open (Ages 10 through 18): Athletes must attend a regional qualifier, June 11-12, 2004 (more information below). The top four finishers at each qualifier, in each division and event, will advance to the finals at Harvard University, July 9-11, 2004. At the finals at Harvard, competition will be preliminaries and finals, with the top eight in morning preliminaries in each event advancing to evening finals. The 400 IM, 400 Freestyle and 800 Freestyle at the Finals at Harvard will be timed finals. The 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay will swim as timed finals during the morning preliminaries. Please see the full Schedule of Events for the order of events at the July 9-11 Finals at Harvard. Masters I/II/III (Ages 19 and over): Masters athletes do not attend the regional qualifiers. Masters athletes will compete in timed finals only at the finals at Harvard University, July 9-11, during the evening finals sessions. All masters athletes must pre-register by US Mail received by July 1, 2004. Please see below for registration materials. COURSE | All races at the June 11-12 regional qualifier meets will be in short course yards (25-yard course). All races at the July 9-11 Finals at Harvard will be in long course meters (50-meter course). For the Junior, Scholastic and Open Divisions, seeding for the July 9-11 finals at Harvard will be based on times achieved at the June 11-12 regional qualifiers. Masters athletes should send pre-registration with seed times for long course meters (50-meter course). The 400 freestyle will be a 500 freestyle at the regional qualifiers. The 800 freestyle will be a 1000 freestyle at the regional qualifiers. | ||||||||||||
RELAYS | Junior/Scholastic/Open (Ages 10 through 18): Relays will take place during the morning preliminaries at Harvard on Saturday and Sunday. The 400 free relay and 200 medley relay will take place on Saturday, July 10. The 400 medley relay and 200 free relay will take place on Sunday, July 11. Masters I/II/III (Ages 19 and over): There are no relays for the masters age groups. |

RULES | Athletes may enter a maximum of 4 events. No membership in any organization is required. USA Swimming Rules will apply to the qualifiers and finals. USA Swimming certified officials will be used at all meets. | ||||||||||||
ENTRY FEE | Junior/Scholastic/Open (Ages 10 through 18): Tryout fee: $15.00; Finalist fee: $20.00 (for those who qualify) Masters I/II/III (Ages 19 and over): $20 pre-registration fee for finals |

REGISTRATION | Junior/Scholastic/Open (Ages 10 through 18) Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. (Athletes who do not pre-register may not receive a Bay State Games T-Shirt at the regional qualifier meets depending on supply.) If you cannot pre-register in time, please come directly to the regional qualifier meet and register on-site. Pre-registratoin options:
Masters I/II/III (Ages 19 and over) Masters athletes must pre-register by July 1, 2004 in order to compete. Masters swimmers must register by postal mail. Please download and complete both of the following forms, and send to the Bay State Games, 55 Sixth Road, Woburn MA 01801, along with the $20 registration fee.
